I must admit, Bridal Veil Falls is one of the least demanding excursions of Yosemite. You can walk the trail for awhile, stick you hand out and feel the mist, and walk back in about two hours, and still get credit for “hiking Yosemite”.

I love snow, winter, parks, and getting out! I also felt it was great that you added safety precautions especially in areas where weather can change dramatically. Clothing, basics needed in case of a breakdown, and practice putting on those chains! I can only imagine the beauty of the snow, and the wildlife, and landscape! I felt reassured by the presence of park personnel and road crews. Hope to visit some day, if nothing else you have encouraged me to visit our National Parks System somewhere!

Winter hiking has its own charms. A blanket of snow can create a deep silence.
Yosemite would be amazing covered with snow.

I would LOVE to visit Yosemite in the winter. I have never thought of it until I read this article. Winter is my favorite season! I’m not much of a skier so it’s nice to see a bunch of suggestions of things to do in the great outdoors that don’t involve a lot of money. It sounds like a lovely place to go for a winter vacation!

Sledding at crane flats is about as zero pressure an activity that a family can do. I think people from many parts of California who don’t have snow outside their door usually think only about skiing which costs a lot and takes lessons. But as anyone from a snow state knows… sledding is also very addictive and with a plastic sled you can buy on the way out of Fresno it is very inexpensive.

Ooo…a picnic at Yosemite park in the winter is certainly something I had never thought of! It sounds like I know of one place to take the family next winter break!
